Discover the lighter side of classical music in this 75-minute, no-intermission concert featuring engaging commentary from Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero. Through a series of entertaining short works, Giancarlo reveals the wit, surprises, and playful tricks hidden within the music. Laugh along with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s A Musical Joke, delight in the comic spirit of Gioachino Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, and enjoy powerhouse pianist Terrence Wilson in Michael Daugherty’s dazzling tribute to Liberace. With music by Joseph Haydn, Johann Strauss, Jr., and Sergey Prokofiev, this lively program proves that classical music has a wonderful sense of humor.
