Join our world-class team of volunteers and become an Usher for Sarasota Orchestra. We are seeking members willing to donate their time to help make our performances a memorable experience for our patrons.
The success of Sarasota Orchestra not only depends on its musicians, staff and board, but also on the generous and loyal support of volunteers. Throughout the year, hundreds of volunteers give their time and talent to help advance and support the activities of Sarasota Orchestra.
Sarasota Orchestra Friends
Sarasota Orchestra Friends is a membership-based organization made up of dedicated people who have joined together to share their collective talent and passion in support of Sarasota Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra Program. There are several opportunities to share your personal interests and skills including event support, hospitality, communications, and more!
Ushers
Sarasota Orchestra ushers are a group of dedicated volunteers who are true ambassadors of our Orchestra and are at concerts to make our patrons feel welcome.
The Sarasota Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra Program require ushers at several venues including:
- Holley Hall located at the Beatrice Friedman Symphony Center. 709 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, 34236
- Neel Performing Arts Center located at the State College of Florida. 5840 26th St West, Bradenton, 34207
- Riverview High School, 1 Ram Way, Sarasota, 34231
Usher Expectations
- Attend Usher Orientation and trainings
- Understand our mission and be knowledgeable about our orchestra, layout of the venues, and current concert series
- Represent the Sarasota Orchestra in a positive manner
- Have a working email address that can be used for usher-related correspondence
- Make a commitment to understand and fulfill your duties as assigned
- Arrive 90 minutes prior to each performance
- Provide at least 24-hour notice if you need to cancel your ushering assignment
- Adhere to the Usher Dress Code
