Biography

Meghan Jones is currently assistant principal second violin with the Sarasota Orchestra, and a member of the Breckenridge Music Festival. Prior to her position in Sarasota, Meghan was a member of the New World Symphony and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Meghan is an active chamber musician and teacher in the Sarasota, FL area. She teaches violin both privately and through the Sarasota Music Conservatory with students of all ages. Meghan has performed in music festivals including Tanglewood, the National Repertory Orchestra, Spoleto USA, Encore School for Strings, and the Breckenridge Music Festival. Originally from Edina, MN, Meghan earned her Bachelors of Music at Northwestern University as a student of Gerardo Ribeiro and her Masters of Music at Boston University as a student of Peter Zazofsky.

Instrument: Meghan plays on a Carl Becker Sr. violin manufactured in 1919 and a Eugene Sartory bow.

Education: Bachelor of Music - Northwestern University; Master of Music - Boston University

Career Highlights: One of Meghan's career highlights is performing the Kodály Duo for Violin and Cello with her little brother in his junior year undergraduate recital.

Passions and Interests: Meghan has a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do!
