Biography

A native Clevelander, Flavia plays in the violin section of the Sarasota Orchestra. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University, studying with Edgar Muenzer, and her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Minnesota, studying with Young-Nam Kim. Her orchestral experience includes performances with the Florida Orchestra and Naples Philharmonic. She has participated in the Northern Lights Chamber Music Institute and Hampden-Sydney Music Festival, and she also plays the piano. Flavia is the author of the book Cleveland Prodigy, and she is an avid swimmer. She has competed in the FKCC Swim Around Key West, Tampa Bay Marathon Swim, and Swim Without Limits Around Lido Key. She is of Czech descent, and her favorite Old Czech Proverb is "Co Cech, to muzikant" (Every Czech is a musician). Flavia is married to Robert, a professional trombonist and music educator, and they are the proud parents of two fur kids, Riley and Wellington VI.
