Biography

Christopher Takeda, a native of Albuquerque, NM was appointed to the positon of Associate Concertmaster of the Sarasota Orchestra in the 2002-03 season. Mr. Takeda joined the orchestra during the 2001-02 season as Concertmaster fulfilling a one-year position. Mr. Takeda has also held a position since 2005 performing with the Santa Fe Opera.

An avid chamber musician, Mr. Takeda was a violinist in the Arcata String Quartet prior to joining the orchestra from 1998 to 2001. The quartet traveled extensively throughout North America and Europe leading to two CD recordings for VOX Classics and several debut performances including New York City Town Hall, Carnegie Hall and London's Wigmore Hall. In the fall of 1998 the quartet was appointed to the position of quartet-in-residence at Utah State University. During the quartet's tenure at the University, Mr. Takeda had the privilege of working with a variety of different ensembles in performance and masterclasses including the Guarneri, Tokyo, Takács, Ysaÿe, and Borromeo String Quartets.

Mr. Takeda received both his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the Juilliard School. His teachers have included Masao Kawasaki, Glenn Dicterow, Margaret Pardee, Paul Kantor, and Robert Mann.
