From Westlake, Ohio, Carlann has been a member of Sarasota Orchestra since 2002. In addition to her orchestral career, she is enjoys bringing her style of playing jazz, Celtic, and fiddle music into her solo performances to audiences of all ages in the area.

Recently she teamed up with The Early Learning Coalition and the Patterson Foundation to present shows in the area for “Remake Learning Days” for pre-school through grade school age children. She has done their annual Story Book Street Days in which over 4,000 books were given to families. Carlann also performs regularly at the Senior Friendship Center, Alderman Oaks, and many other assisted living venues to enhance their memory care programs.

Carlann received her Bachelors Degree in Music Performance from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory, and her Masters Degree in Violin Performance from the University of Texas at Austin. Shortly after earning her degrees, she won positions with the Austin Symphony, The Colorado Symphony and L’Orquesta Sinfonica de Tenerife where she performed in Spain and Europe for 6 years. She also has performed with L’ Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia, the BBC Scottish Symphony, and was a member of the Philharmonic de Gran Canaria.

Upon her return to the U.S., she played with The Naples Philharmonic, The Southwest Florida Symphony, The Florida Orchestra and later became a member of the string quartet, Musicians Out of The Box. Their CD, Music Tales, won a prestigious Parents Choice Award for outstanding Children’s music album and was nominated for a Grammy.

Passionate about music education, Carlann coaches at Pine View School and the Sarasota Orchestra Youth Programs, and in recent years created violin programs at several local schools. She also partners with local assisted living facilities to provide student performances for residents.

Mentors include Gary Kosloski, Wei Sho Co, Eugene Gratovich, from Cleveland; Donald Weilerstein, Stephen Clapp and Kurt Sassmanshaus from the Aspen Music Festival and Juilliard.
Sarasota Orchestra, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has been serving the region since 1949.
