Xinrae Cardozo, a native of Carrollton, Texas, has been playing the French Horn since 2013. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the Frost School of Music in 2024, where she was awarded the Stamps Brass Quintet Scholarship from 2020 to 2024. During her time in Miami, Xinrae freelanced with local performing groups and churches, while also teaching beginner lessons. Over the summers, she participated in the Eastern Music Festival in 2022 and the Blackburn Music Academy from 2023 to 2024. Xinrae has had the privilege of performing under the batons of renowned conductors, including Maestro Carl St. Clair, Maestro Gerard Schwarz, Robert Carnochan, and Jerry Junkin. Her studies have included mentorship from Mrs. Karen Houghton (2017-2020) and Ms. Carolyn Wahl (2023-2024). Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s Degree in French Horn Performance at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, under the guidance of Ms. Julie Landsman. In her free time, Xinrae enjoys caring for her finicky sourdough starter, thrifting, and spending time with her husband, Antony Hook, and their rescue German Shepherd, Bruno.
