Joined the Orchestra in 2017
Hometown: Mufreesboro, TN
Steve oversees the work of the Orchestra’s Facility Manager with special emphasis on capital projects. He has written and manages our hurricane emergency response plan, has been the liaison with the Bay Conservancy and City roundabout projects, and most recently monitored and reported on all aspects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Steve has a B.S. in Music Education majoring in organ, piano, and composition, and an M.M. in Music Theory. Professionally, after several years as a vocal coach, conductor, and stage director, he spent two decades in opera production and management with companies around the country, including 10 years with Lyric Opera of Chicago. Steve came to the Orchestra after 10 years at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall overseeing touring productions and artists, capital projects, continuity of operations planning, and serving on the City of Sarasota emergency response team.Favorite Classical Music Work:"It’s hard to choose just one favorite classical piece. My desert island collection would include Bach’s organ works, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Carlo, Der Rosenkavalier, and piano preludes of Chopin and Scriabin.”
