Instrument: Larry's father is a retired Music Educator and there were always a lot of instruments in the house. At age 10, when Larry saw and then heard the horn, he was hooked. There is nothing better than the soaring, rich, sonorous sound of the horn whether it be in a Brahms or Mahler symphony or a movie soundtrack by John Williams.

Laurence Solowey has been the Co-Principal Horn of the Sarasota Orchestra since 1991. He received his BM from the University of Akron and MM from Manhattan School of Music.He has performed with Artis-Naples, The Florida Orchestra, Akron Symphony, Filarmonica del Bajio in Guanajuato, Mexico as well as on several touring Broadway Shows including West Side Story and Into the Woods. Music runs in the family as his wife Roxane is a core violinist in the Sarasota Orchestra, his son Daniel is currently a freshman at DePaul University as a clarinet major and his elder son Michael is member of the Brandeis University Choir.
Passions/Interests:
Laurence loves to play golf and is an avid New York Mets fan.Career Highlights:
Some of Mr. Solowey's fondest musical moments include playing principal horn on Mahler's 5th Symphony with the then Florida West Coast Symphony and his time with the Sarasota Orchestra as co-principal horn, including many wonderful brass quintet recitals.
