Beethoven’s Eroica

Principal Clarinet Bharat Chandra introduces Masterworks 1: Beethoven's Eroica!

Our 75th Anniversary season gets off to a joyous start with a program featuring Beethoven’s “Eroica” Symphony, a supreme work that is by turns heroic, somber, and ecstatic. Artistic Advisor David Alan Miller leads the Orchestra in this masterpiece, which redefined the symphonic art form forever. Tessa Lark, violinist and fiddler extraordinaire, brings her flair to Michael Torke’s bluegrass-inspired violin concerto, Sky. The sparkling Overture to Die Fledermaus, Johann Strauss Jr.’s comic homage to champagne and practical jokes, opens the celebration.

Park once and enjoy both dinner and a concert as pre-performance dinners return to the Van Wezel for this season of Masterworks! Chef Paul Mattison curates the scrumptious buffet menus, saying, "A musically inspired meal is an integral part of the concert experience."

Each dinner will be offered on Friday and Saturday evenings of every Masterworks concert at $65 per person, with the buffet opening at 5:30 p.m. A cash bar will also be available for beverage purchases, featuring a specialty cocktail that pays tribute to the 75th anniversary of Sarasota Orchestra: a French 75 with gin, champagne, lemon, and sugar
