Join conductor, soloist, and full orchestra for a 75 minute “guided tour” providing context for what makes the works showcased great. The concert will highlight the evolution of the “American sound” from Aaron Copland (the “Dean of the American Music”) to contemporary classical composer Jessica Hunt. Hear Hunt’s perspectives on her work before it is performed in its entirety. Conductor Kensho Watanabe provides historical context for one of America’s iconic themes – Copland’s Fanfare for Common Man. Hear the opening and closing movements of Copland’s magnum opus, his Third Symphony. The guided tour of great music concludes with two movements of the stunning Stravinsky Violin Concerto performed by guest soloist Stefan Jackiw performing with Sarasota Orchestra.
