Sydney Scarlett

Sydney Scarlett is an emerging violinist known for his expressive artistry and commitment to musical storytelling. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music, studying with Professor Xiao Wang, and he earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory, where he studied under Professor Kristopher Tong. Sydney has held notable performance fellowships, including Castle of Our Skins Fellow (2023-2025), performing at venues such as Jordan Hall, the Shalin Liu Performance Center, and the Boston Center for the Arts in programs celebrating Black composers and artists. As a New England Conservatory Community Performances and Partnerships Fellow (2024-2025), Sydney brought music to schools, hospitals, and community spaces. His festival appearances include the Texas Music Festival, Sewanee Summer Music Festival, and CLAZZ International Music Festival in Italy. A prizewinner of the William Schatzkamer Young Artist Competition, Sydney continues to build a socially engaged performance career.
