Kay Ito

Kay Ito, a violist from Chicago, is currently a Grace Sherman Fellow at the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studies under Misha Amory and Hsin-Yun Huang. She began her musical journey on the violin at age fi ve before switching to the viola at age 15. She formally studied the viola under the guidance of Rose Armbrust Griffin.

From 2021 to 2024, Kay was a student at the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory (MYAC), where she was part of the chamber music program and served as the principal violist of the symphony orchestra. Since 2023, she has also attended the Meadowmount School of Music, studying under Ayane Kozasa and Caroline Coade.

Kay has had the opportunities to play in masterclasses and lessons with renowned violists Kim Kashkashian, Teng Li, Milena Pájaro-van de Stadt, and Molly Carr.
