Born in Faro, Portugal, Joseph Vaz has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician in the United States, Canada, Austria, the UK, and Italy. He has performed in venues from Carnegie Hall to the Arnold Schönberg Center in Vienna.

Vaz's 2024 spring/summer season features a fellowship at the Gilmore Festival, appearances at Sacred Music at Columbia and the Roerich Museum in New York City, Rhapsody in Blue with Harmonia Orchestra Seattle, and recitals in Virginia, New York, and Ohio.

He is a laureate of several national and international competitions since 2012, with recent appearances at the 2023 Pacific Stars International (2nd Prize), 2023 James Mottram International Piano Competition, and 2022 Seattle International Piano Competition.

Vaz is a proponent of new music, working closely with several composers on pieces for world premieres. Interested in many genres of music, Joseph enjoys working in contemporary music ensembles, musical theatre, and popular music.
