David Kwon is currently a freshman at Colburn School where he studies with Eugene Izotov. Recently, he attended the National Youth Orchestra 2 (2022) summer program sponsored by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, with culminating performances at Carnegie Hall Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage in New York City and the New World Center in Miami Beach. David served as principal oboe under the baton of Maestro Mei-Ann Chen.

An ensemble musician and soloist, David was the principal oboist of the Colburn Youth Orchestra and Colburn Sinfonietta. In 2023, David was named Semi-Finalist for Music Center’s Spotlight competition. Additionally, David won 2nd place wind-division of the Pasadena Showcase Instrumental Competition.

David’s teachers have included Jie Young Moon (2015-2018) and Aki Nishiguchi (2018-2022). Other influences include Michael Yoshimi, William Wellwood, Erik Behr, Jim Walker, Katherine Needleman, Philippe Tondre, Nathan Hughes, Elaine Douvas, and Richard Beene.
