Kayla Yagi-Bacon is a sophomore at the McDuffie Center for Strings in Macon, Georgia. She began playing the violin at the age of 6 and is currently under the tutelage of Amy Schwartz Moretti, Robert McDuffie and David Kim. She made her orchestral debut in 2014, performing Vivaldi's Violin Concerto in F Major for Three Violins with the Seattle Festival Orchestra at Seattle's Town Hall. In 2016, Kayla won 2nd Prize in the Coeur D'Alene Symphony's National Young Artists Concerto Competition, which marked her solo debut. In 2017, Kayla performed with the Cascade Symphony and was chosen to be a finalist in the Senior Concerto Division of Seattle Young Artists Music Festival. Most recently, she won 3rd prize in the Japan International Junior Music Competition. in her free time, she enjoys baking, particularly with East-Asian influence.
