Miriam Smith, from Buffalo, New York, began her studies on the violin at the age of 4. An avid lover of chamber music from an early age, she has played in many small ensembles. As a senior in high school, Miriam was awarded the Silverman scholarship in recognition of her love for chamber music. In her freshman year at Lynn Conservatory of Music, she was a semi-finalist in the John Olivera String Competition. Now a sophomore, she is a member of the Sapphire Quintet, which was named alternate winner in the Lynn Chamber Music Competition. She has attended several chamber music festivals, such as Apple Hill Chamber Music and Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival. Miriam has played in masterclasses for Janet Sung, Ann Setzer, and Grigory Kalinovsky, among others. Currently, she is studying with Guillermo Figueroa at Lynn Conservatory of Music to obtain her bachelor's degree in music performance.
