Pianist Jonathan Mak is from Toronto, Canada. At age four, he made his solo debut with the Canadian Sinfonietta orchestra.

Jonathan is pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Rice University Shepherd School of Music with Jon Kimura Parker. He holds a Master of Music and a Master of Musical Arts degree from the Yale School of Music, where he studied with Boris Slutsky. He received his bachelor's degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Dr. Daniel Shapiro, as well as minors in viola and German.

Jonathan has been invited to perform at various music festivals including the Festival of the Sound in Parry Sound, Ottawa Chamberfest, and the Edinburgh International Festival. He has attended various summer festivals, including the Aspen Summer Music Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, and Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival. Jonathan has also participated in piano competitions such as the Van Cliburn, Dublin, and the Maj Lind competitions.
